Postdoctoral positions at Meng's group in Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China
The Meng's group expects the opening of several postdoctoral positions to begin in Fall 2016. The search for candidates will continue until the positions are filled. Besides Prof. Zi Yang Meng, the successful candidate(s) will be able to interact with other members of the Condensed Matter Theory group – particularly Lei Wang, Chen Fang, Xi Dai and Tao Xiang – as well as other active experimental and theoretical groups in the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Project descriptions
The candidate will be given the freedom to work on interesting topics in the broad fields of computational quantum condensed matter physics. Areas of interest include quantum Monte Carlo methods, Density Matrix Renormalization Group and Tensor Network States, Dynamical mean field theory and its cluster extension, with particular interests in applying above mentioned numerical approaches to strongly correlated quantum many-body systems, such as frustrated magnets, spin liquids and topological order, entanglement in condensed matter systems, Mott transition, topological states and novel superconductivity in multi-orbital correlated electron systems.
Required Qualifications
A PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics is required. Experience in one or more of the following fields is preferred: quantum Monte Carlo methods, Density Matrix Renormalization Group and Tensor Network States, Dynamical mean-field theory. Prospective candidates should email a single pdf containing a CV, publication list, and a short research statement, as well as arrange for two letters of reference to zymeng@iphy.ac.cn
